Green is a term that originated with the worldwide political movement associated with the Green Party. The core principles center around environmentalism and sustainability. In recent years, the use of the term has grown beyond politics to embrace business models, socially conscious investing, cutting edge technology, and more. It cuts across ideology and is no longer associated with a particular political party.
Space refers to a place where one can take up residence online. It is a place where one can share their interests and aspirations and connect with like-minded people.
Savannah is a beautiful, historic, southern city. Known for its walkability and stunning classical architecture, it is fast becoming a center for arts, culture, and progressive politics.
GreenSpace Savannah was inspired by the success of the social networking group GreenDrinks Savannah. Launched in October of 2007, this local branch of Green Drinks International had the largest per capita turnout for an initial event in the history of the organization. Green Savannahians are clearly hungry to connect with each other to make their beloved city a model for sustainability as we march forward through the 21st century.
After the first event, we immediately saw the need to keep the conversations and connections going between the monthly meetings—and GreenSpace Savannah was born.
